Print it standing up
Stand the cover on its short end, as in the print photo in the gallery. The rail lips then print as clean vertical walls with no supports, and the gentle curve is only a mild overhang. It is about 67 mm tall, so use a brim to keep it steady.
Check the fit first
The rails are tuned for FDM tolerances. If the cover is tight, lightly sand the inside of the lips rather than forcing it on.

Repair steps
- Small Phillips screwdriver
- Plastic pry tool or guitar pick
- The printed cover
- Fine sandpaper (optional)
- Remove the ear padGently pull the right ear pad off to reach the ear cup.
- Open the ear cupUnscrew and lift off the back of the ear cup so the headband cable can move freely. Keep the screws together.
- Unscrew the yokeRemove the two screws on the yoke plate marked MDR-XB950B1 to release the end of the slider.
- Clear out the broken coverTake off what is left of the original cover and clean the slider rails.
- Route the cableLay the cable in a loose zigzag under the new cover. The slack lets the headband extend without pulling on the wire.
- Fit and reassembleSeat the cover on the rails, refit the yoke screws and close the ear cup. Run the headband through every click and check that the cable moves freely.
